Wordle’s Word Of The Day Made The Internet Crash Out
Wordthe word guessing game that is played every day the lives of many people since 2021, today, December 19, had a more difficult word than usual. I don’t play Wordso I didn’t think much of it when my colleagues were talking about how difficult today’s word was. That is, until I looked outside Kotaku Slack and to the rest of the internet, where I saw that Word players were definitely excited about today’s word.

The word for today is “myrrh,” which, for those who don’t know about the cool shit Jesus was given when he died, is a “fragrant gum resin obtained from various Arabian and African trees and used in perfumes, medicines, and incense.” The go-to for many players Word The strategy is to start by guessing vowels as a base and then fill in consonants based on where the vowels fall. As you can see, myrrh has no vowels, so players were already at a disadvantage. Many tried to figure out the word but failed, and it almost ruined their day.

These are just some of the social media comments I saw as they were the most tame. What I didn’t expect were some of the other responses I came across that we didn’t want to share here. I know sharp humor and wild comparisons are common in most gaming worlds, but I didn’t expect to see any of the nasty stuff I saw Word players call the game developers. So if you really want to see outrageous, outrageous reactions to a simple wordplay, you can search for it yourself.
Anyway, maybe they’ll bring back ‘myrrh’ Word when Jimmy Fallon’s Game Show version comes along, and we’ll see someone crash live on television.
