It’s officially Christmas week and the Boxing Day deals are coming in fast, with many of our favorite tech getting similar (or sometimes better) discounts compared to Black Friday last month. One of the deals I spotted today is the brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab A11+, which has already received a generous 44% discount for Boxing Day.
Announced only about a month ago, this budget-oriented Android tablet is the successor to the well-received Galaxy Tab A9+, with a new MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, 6GB of RAM (up from 4GB), 25W fast charging (up from 15W) and storage options starting at 128GB (compared to the base A9+ 64GB). While it’s still a step down from the Galaxy Tab S series, an Android tablet with these specs for under $300 is hard to pass up.
The A9+ launched in Australia in October 2023, so the jump in specs for the A11+ isn’t surprising. What struck me was the longer software support from 4 years for the A9+ to 7 years for the A11+. Although the design of both tablets is similar, the A11+ has an IP52 rating for dust and splash resistance, while the A9+ did not have an IP rating.
The A11+ retains the 11-inch TFT LCD display and 90Hz refresh rate, but the screen brightness has increased from 400 nits to 480. The tablet also retains the 7,040 mAh battery.
Also added to the Tab A11+ are some Samsung Galaxy AI features previously reserved for the Tab S series, including Circle to Search, solving math equations within Samsung Notes and integration with Google Gemini.
Like the A9+, this tablet would be more suited to media consumption and everyday browsing, and apps like Google Docs or Microsoft Office will also work fantastically well. However, if you’re looking for art and design, you’ll have to look elsewhere. That said, this tablet is still a lot cheaper than any iPad on sale here in Australia, and you get a lot of bang for your buck at AU$297.
