PlayStation 5 Might Be Getting A Big Black Friday Price Drop

Sony recently jacked up the price of the PlayStation 5 in the U.S. due to tariffs, but players might get a brief reprieve from the higher costs this holiday season. The company is reportedly planning to drop the price as much as €150 across Europe for Black Friday 2025. It seems likely that some version of that deal will grace U.S. fans as well as Sony races to hit 90 million PS5s sold by the end of the year.

Early reports of Sony slashing the PS5 pricing this holiday across Europe come from reliable French leaker billbil-kun at Dealabs Magazine. The discounts will supposedly apply to both PS5 and PS5 Pro. According to billbil-kun, the PS5 with a disc drive will be marked down by €100 while the all-digital edition is marked down by €150. The recently revealed PS5 Fortnite Flowering Chaos Bundle will be marked down by similar amounts. And the PS5 Pro will get a €100 discount as well.

That’s seemingly good news for Europe, but what about everyone in the U.S.? Well, the tariff situation here complicates things a bit. It’s possible Sony could be planning to roll out similar sales for the PS5 and PS5 Pro here, taking $150 and $100 off the recently adjusted price tags. That would mean the PS5 Pro would go from $750 to $650, the disc drive PS5 would go from $550 to $450, and the digital edition would go from $500 to $350.

But the company also might change things up to adjust for exchange rates and other differences across the two markets. We won’t know for sure until Sony officially announces its Black Friday 2025 deals. And even then, physical retailers might offer their own unique deals on the PS5 and related accessories. With Xbox prices jacked up even higher and Nintendo abandoning its usual Switch deals, maybe Sony will seize the opening to give people the PS5 price cut they never actually got, at least for a couple weeks.
